The original resip team was put together in mid-2002. The key goals for this new stack were to meet the following requirements:
- 3261 compliance
- easy to program with
- efficient (> 1000 transactions per second)
- relatively small footprint ( < 500kb )
- excellent security implementation including TLS and S/MIME
- Win32 and Linux/Unix support
- usable by proxies, user agents and b2buas
- object oriented interface
